Took a little much-needed break from thesis work to make a quick doodle of a panther fascinated by a firefly. This is probably the quickest I've drawn something this polished...more or less an hour @-) Yey! :D

This work is inspired by these AMAZING tutorials by 18-year-old twins Elioli (here and here). I've been wanting to learn how to draw in a textured Pixar-style, and I love how Elena and Olivia posted a tutorial of a style similar to it. I downloaded the brushes and followed their tutorials while adding a bit of how I usually draw my illustrations and here's the result. Since stumbling upon their works a few hours ago, I have become an absolute fan of their amazing art and believe they'll go far in the animation industry.
I was also inspired to draw a glowy thingy by this post by 15-year-old Marlena Vallis (as promoted by Elioli). For some reason, the idea of a panther and a firefly immediately came to mind. I hope this doesn't look too dark on Mac screens @-)
Now that I got the urge to do something not for school out of my chest, I can finally go back to working on my thesis. I'm a bit past halfway done with the animatic, and I really hope I can do that plus the uploaded promotional website and all my other requirements by my internal defense on Aug 3. Wish me luck!!!
